Cam Cameron was fired by Miami Dolphins, continuing a makeover for the National Football League's worst team that started with the hiring of Bill Parcells as executive vice president of football operations.
Cameron was 1-15 in his lone season with the Dolphins. The team said it also fired all but two members of his coaching staff, retaining an assistant special teams coach and a linebackers coach.
Parcells, who was hired two weeks ago and signed a four- year contract with Miami, fired General Manager Randy Mueller on Dec. 31 and hired Dallas Cowboys executive Jeff Ireland yesterday to replace him.
Season-ending injuries to starting quarterback Trent Green and running back Ronnie Brown in October made Cameron's job difficult, and the Dolphins opened the season with 13 straight losses before beating Baltimore 22-16 in overtime.
The Dolphins began their shakeup four days later with the hiring of Parcells on Dec. 20. The two-time Super Bowl-winning coach turned down a similar job with Atlanta to come to Miami.
Parcells waited until after the regular season to make his first move, firing Mueller after three seasons with the Dolphins. Mueller's Miami teams had a 16-32 record.
Ireland was hired after three seasons with the Cowboys, where he worked with then-coach Parcells as Dallas' vice president of college and pro scouting.
